Be a lifeline for families.
Sometimes families face the unexpected—and an early helping hand can be the difference between a short-term set-back and a major life crisis. United Way helps bridge the gap for financially struggling families with short-term support and also helps build a path to self-sufficiency for the future. Whether that’s keeping the lights on, preventing hunger or homelessness, providing transportation, helping to secure employment, or providing access to other community resources.
Two in five U.S. families struggle to make ends meet. When we help families in our local community avert financial crisis, and improve financial stability, we can prevent more costly consequences that affect our entire community. Through programs that help families, women experiencing a first-time crisis, veterans and their families we work to prevent:
- Employment challenges
- Transportation challenges
- Improved access to resources and financial assistance
