OUR IMPACT AREAS
By supporting United Way’s Impact Fund, you help deliver critical assistance and change the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors by meeting basic needs, moving toward financial stability and building success in school and life.
Connecting people at times of crisis with immediate, essential human needs such as shelter, safety and food.
Helping working families and individuals overcome short-term instability and create a path to a more financially secure future.
Addressing disparities in educational opportunities from early childhood through school years and helping young people become successful adults.
Affordable, high-quality, dependable internet service is essential to employment, education and telemedicine. Yet, for many families and individuals, internet access is difficult, if not impossible.
Through the Digital Inclusion Community Change Collaborative, United Way is working with government, the private sector and community organizations to overcome the gaps in broadband infrastructure in our region, and the barriers that too many of our neighbors face getting online. Digital literacy, access to reliable computers routers and technical support are just a few of the issues that we have been exploring Along with partners including the Pittsburgh Digital Equity Coalition, City of Pittsburgh’s Mayor’s Office, Allegheny County Executive’s Office and the Greater Pittsburgh Digital Inclusion Alliance, we are creating a digital equity plan that we hope will be federally funded.
Our goal is to help everyone access high-quality, affordable internet service so they can tap into work, learn, and access health care remotely.
We will also explore how 211 can help people connect to resources that will help them get and stay online.
