Making a mark on the region through fundraising and volunteerism.

1. Why did you choose to make Southwest PA your home?
I am originally from Washington, PA, and now I reside in Greensburg, PA. I have traveled the globe and I’ve found that the people in Southwestern PA are so genuine and hardworking, and ever so kind. They’re always willing to help a friend or stranger in need.

2. Tell us a little about your family.
I have been married to my husband Jim for 13 years. We have a yellow Labrador named Remi, who has far too much energy but we love her dearly.

3. How did you choose the career you’re in today?
My career found me. Directly out of college I was working in logistics. An opportunity opened up at HJ Heinz Company. My college friend worked there and she thought I would be a great fit for the role in procurement. Being a Pittsburgh girl through and through, I could not pass up working for such an iconic company. Eventually, I found an opportunity closer to home at Kennametal—yet another iconic Western PA brand.

4. What is something people might not know about you?
I grew up on a farm with cows and chickens. I even had a pony named Daisy Duke.

5. What is your favorite book or TV show and why?
My favorite TV show is Chopped on the Food Network. It is inspiring to see what chefs create with unique ingredients and it has inspired me to use what is in the refrigerator or pantry and reduce food waste.

6. What are some of your hobbies or favorite things to do outside of work?
I very much enjoy cooking and trying different recipes. Weekends in the summer are spent at our camp in Fairhope, PA with friends and family. And in the fall, every Sunday I am at Acrisure Stadium cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

7. What is your favorite United Way memory?
Kennametal hosts an annual golf outing to support United Way. For 4 years I organized the event, each year bringing in close to $200K for United Way. Over the years we have had a host of guest speakers, mostly Pittsburgh sports stars. My favorite guest speaker was Steve Blass, former pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mr. Blass was so gracious at the event and spent so much time speaking with attendees. I’m so thankful to have been part of the event for so many years.
