Prior to his retirement on July 31, 2019, Dr. Wilds served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community Relations in the office of Community and Governmental Relations at the University of Pittsburgh with primary responsibility for managing the University’s community relations agenda. Prior to this assignment, he held the positions of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community and Governmental Relations and Director- Governmental Relations. In addition, Dr. Wilds managed the University’s Office of Human Resources for ten years.
Prior to joining the University, Dr. Wilds was Vice President of Human Resources for Warner Cable Corporation of Pittsburgh where he had the responsibility of managing all human resource functions. He also worked for Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation holding managerial positions in human resource planning, employee development, labor relations, employment and equal employment opportunity.
Dr. Wilds has been an adjunct lecturer in the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and the School of Business and the School of Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh and, the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy Management at Carnegie Mellon University teaching courses in human resources management.
Dr. Wilds a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources is Past President of the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association and a member of the Society for Human Resources Management. He currently serves on the boards of Family House, Construction Junction, the Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery (POWER), and the Oakland Business Improvement District. His previous board assignments were with HIGHMARK, Pennsylvania Blue Shield, Center of Hearing and Deaf Services, The Pittsburgh Board of Education, Urban League of Pittsburgh, Regional Funding Development Corporation, the United Way of Allegheny County and the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority for Cities of the Second Class Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wilds also served as a member and Chair of the City of Pittsburgh’s Commission on Human Relations.
Dr. Wilds received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science and Psychology, a Masters and Doctorate in Education Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He also attended post- graduate programs at the University of Chicago and Cornell University.
Dr. Wilds is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Star of the West Lodge No. 62 F&AM, St. Cyprian Consistory No. 4 AASR of Free Masonry.
