Growing roots in Pittsburgh and making a difference.

  1. Are you from Pittsburgh? Have you ever lived anywhere else?

I was born in Ft. Campbell, KY. My father was on active duty in the Army at the time. When I was six, we settled in Cresson, PA where I stayed through high school. I attended Penn State. After graduating lived in the Philadelphia area for two years before making my way to Pittsburgh in 2006.

  1. Tell us a little about your family.

My wife, Megan, works as a nurse practitioner and we have two kids. Will is seven and in first grade; Violet is four and in pre-k.

  1. How did you choose the career you’re in today?

I’ve always had a thing for technology. I worked for Accenture right out of college and loved working on different clients, across different industries. Each project felt like a new job. I finally landed at KPMG in 2011 doing the same type of client-based technology consulting. I help implement large enterprise software systems.

  1. What do you love most about your job?

It might sound cliché, but it’s the people. I travel a lot for my job and get to work with folks from all over the world, both within my company and our clients. I’ve been able to make so many friends that I still keep up with even after a particular project has ended.

  1. What are some of your hobbies or favorite things to do outside of work?

I’m an avid Pittsburgh and Penn State sports fan and when I’m not cheering, I also love yard work. I enjoy cutting grass, trimming bushes, and keeping the place looking nice. It’s a good way to unplug and spend some time outside. The result is very satisfying.

  1. Why do you volunteer with United Way?

I volunteer with United Way because it’s an amazing organization that helps so many people from so many walks of life, who are going through so many different things. United Way of Southwestern PA is focused here at home, so we can see the benefits of our efforts first-hand. I have gotten to work with some of the best people. Individuals who are selfless in their efforts and are truly invested in making a positive impact. I’m proud to be a part of it.

  1. What is your favorite United Way memory?

I was honored to participate in the inaugural Impact Cup competition where small teams were challenged to come up with ways to increase awareness of United Way’s amazing 211 service. Getting to deep dive into the mission of 211, the people it serves, and the benefits it provides was very eye-opening. The icing on the cake was working with (and getting to know) others from our community with a similar passion for giving back and making a difference.
