United Way is seeking partners for the Free Tax Prep Coalition (FTPC) to provide high-quality tax preparation assistance to families and individuals as part of the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The VITA Program offers free tax help for income-eligible individuals, people with disabilities, people with limited English proficiency, Native Americans, individuals living in rural areas, members of the Armed Forces and their spouses, and the elderly.
Getting a child enrolled and prepared for the first day of kindergarten is one of the most critical steps of building success in school and beyond. United Way coordinates community transition teams and provides funding for nonprofits to help bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten.
United Way partner agencies (already receiving a Community Impact or Welcome Back Summer grant) or recent recipients of unrestricted funds through a grant from the Pittsburgh Foundation may apply for grants that fund capital improvements. Funding may be used for improvements such as renovation and repair, vehicle purchases, technology, or appliance purchases.
