"I think what’s most important about the program is that she knows that when she is absent, somebody at school is worried about her, cares about her, and wants her to be here. "
Together, we have made a difference in the lives of many local people in need. We have built a strong educational foundation for disadvantaged kids, provided tools and resources to help struggling families, helped ensure that people with disabilities are able to realize their full potential and helped seniors remain independent and living in the homes they love. These are the success stories of those who have been helped through United Way:
"There aren't words to say how thankful I am."
"I feel better, even though the odds have been stacked against me, because there are people out there who are on my side looking out for me."
More than 70% of mentees in United Way’s Be a Middle School Mentor program have never had a day of suspension from school.
"Help is just a phone call away. Just be brave enough to step up and ask for the help you need."
"The value of my career to my life is everything.”
"Today, I'm feeling content. I feel secure and I know if something happens in regards to my housing or something like that, I can count on Sandra and United Way."
“Middle school is such an important crossroads in a child’s life, and anything we can do to help them choose the right path is just awesome.”
"I can't think about how hard it would have been to bounce back from homelessness at my age. 2-1-1 and United for Women literally saved me from hitting rock bottom."
